Product Information

The Verity Systems SV91M degausser is particularly recommended for erasing defective or damaged drives where other types of erasure systems may not be effective or suitable due to their higher investment cost.

This NATO approved degausser is ideal for the security conscious, low volume operators who have a smaller volume of hard drives and tapes to erase on-site.

Additional Features

Extended Warranty

The SV91M is simple to use and manually operated.

For erasing hard drives, the operator turns the security key to the “On” position and places the media on the top surface of the degausser. Pressing the red “Power” button turns on the magnetic field and the media is held in place for 3-5 seconds. Pressing the “Power” button turns off the magnetic field. The operator should then rotate the media 90° on the top of the degausser and repeat the process by applying the magnetic field for another 3-5 seconds. The media should then be flipped over and the process repeated making 4 degauss cycles in total. On completion of the fourth cycle , the media will be completely erased.

Transportation Case

An optional heavy-duty transportation case with wheels is available for the SV91M, enabling you to safely transfer your degausser by road or air, ideal if you have a requirement to erase media at multiple locations.

The SV91M comes with an extensive 36 month back to base, all parts and labor included warranty. Extended warranties are also available for this unit on request. We are so confident in our product build quality that whether you opt for an extended warranty or not, our factory-based technical support team are available for free phone and email support. This support extends for the entire lifetime of ownership.

NATO Approval

The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation has approved the SV91M for security applications. The NATO stock numbers are as follows:

5836-99-591-3345 (50Hz)

5836-99-500-5299 (60Hz)

Regulatory Compliance

Strict industry standards & government regulations are in place that force organizations to mitigate the risk of unauthorized exposure of confidential corporate & government data.

These regulations include;

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act)

GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

FACTA (The Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003)

GLB (Gramm-Leach Bliley)

Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOx)

Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS)

NSA (National Security Agency)

A two step process has also been set out by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Central Security Service (CSS) for the disposal of magnetic storage devices, including hard drives. They recommend that hard drives are sanitized (erased) with a degausser prior to the physical destruction of the hard drive itself.

It is this standard that all government agencies must adhere to and is now recognized by most organizations as the most effective and fool-proof way of disposing of hard drives effectively and securely.

Security of data is also a legal requirement under the UK’s Data Protection Act 1998, ensuring the complete removal of all data from redundant equipment is essential to maintain the security and integrity of data. In addition, many standards insist that the process of data destruction is fully traceable. Using a degausser to sanitize media provides a fully auditable procedure.

With safety in mind and to meet the latest ICNIRP Magnetic Exposure Guidelines, the SV91M’s field is concentrated near the top operational surface where the media is degaussed.
